Your safety

Is findmydrivingtest Safe? Exactly How We Protect You

It's a fair question — there are scams in this space, and even the DVSA warns learners about risky cancellation finders. So let's be completely transparent about what we do, what we don't, and why your test is never at risk with us.

The one-line answer: we only ever tell you when an earlier slot appears. You book it yourself on gov.uk, in your own name. We never touch your booking — so there's nothing that can put your test at risk.

What we never do

  • We never book, change, swap or cancel your test. Those actions became reserved to you alone on 12 May 2026, and we respect that completely.
  • We never ask for your DVSA login. There isn't even a password — the booking page uses your licence and reference numbers, which only you enter.
  • We never use bots on your licence. The DVSA can cancel a test or block online access if it detects a bot acting on your account — so we never put a bot anywhere near yours.
  • We never sell your data.

What we actually do

  1. You tell us your centres, dates and times.
  2. Our system watches publicly visible availability 24/7.
  3. The instant a matching slot appears, we send you a WhatsApp + email link.
  4. You open it and book it yourself on gov.uk.

How to spot a risky service (anywhere)

Walk away from any service that: asks for your DVSA login; promises to “secure” or “hold” a slot; or offers to book/change your test for you. A test booked that way can be cancelled with no refund.

We built our whole model around the opposite of that: information in, booking done by you. That's why your test, your fee and your data are always safe with us.

Security

Why We Never Ask for Your DVSA Login (and Why It Matters)

If any driving-test service asks you to hand over login details so it can act on your account, that's the moment to close the tab. Here's why — and why we deliberately never ask.

There isn't really a “login” to give

The DVSA booking page doesn't use a username and password like a normal account. To manage your test you enter two things yourself: your driving licence number and your test reference number. Any service asking for “your login so we can book for you” is asking to act on your booking — which only you are allowed to do since 12 May 2026.

Why handing it over is dangerous

A test booked or changed by someone else can be cancelled by the DVSA with no refund, and repeated third-party activity can get your online access suspended. You could lose both your slot and your fee.

How we work instead

We never need your booking credentials, because we never touch your booking. We watch publicly visible availability and send you a direct link; you sign in with your own details and book it. Simple, and completely within the rules.

Rule of thumb: keep your licence and reference numbers to yourself. A legitimate alert service never needs them.

Know the risks

Cancellation Finder Risks — and Why We're Different

The DVSA has a whole page warning learners about cancellation finders. Rather than dodge that, we'll walk through every risk it raises — and show you exactly how our service is built to avoid each one.

Risk 1 — A service books on your behalf

Since 12 May 2026 only you can book or change your test. A service that does it for you breaks the rules, and the DVSA can cancel that booking with no refund.

Us: we never book anything. You always make the booking yourself on gov.uk.

Risk 2 — Bots on your licence

Automated tools acting on your account can trigger a suspension of your online booking access.

Us: we monitor publicly visible availability, not your account. No bot ever touches your licence.

Risk 3 — Handing over personal data

The DVSA warns about data being misused, and explains how to complain if it is.

Us: we only take what's needed to send your alerts (name, contact, preferences). We never ask for your licence login and never sell your data.

Risk 4 — Paying over the odds for nothing

Some services charge a lot and deliver little, or resell slots at a mark-up.

Us: one clear price, unlimited alerts until you book, and a refund before your first matching alert. We never resell slots — that's illegal, and we won't do it.

The honest summary

Most of the risks the DVSA lists come from one thing: a third party touching your booking. We designed our service so that never happens. You stay in control of every click.

Your money

Driving Test Refunds in 2026: How to Keep Your £62

Losing your test fee is one of the most common worries — and one of the easiest to avoid once you know the rule. Here's exactly when you get your money back in 2026.

The core rule

For a car test, you get a full refund only if you cancel at least 10 full working days before your test. Cancel later than that and you lose the fee — £62 for a standard test, £75 for evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

“Full working days” means Monday to Saturday, not counting Sundays, bank holidays, or the day of the test itself. Count carefully — this catches a lot of people out.

Where your refund goes

The fee always goes back to the original payment method — even if the test was originally booked on someone else's card or a prefunded account.

What does NOT get you a refund

  • Nerves or anxiety on the day (without medical evidence)
  • Traffic, transport problems, or car trouble
  • Work or holiday clashes
  • Simply not turning up (a “no-show” loses the fee)

The smart move

If you're not going to be ready, decide early — cancelling inside the 10-day window costs you the fee. And if you're chasing an earlier date, never cancel your existing test to go looking; hold it until the earlier slot is actually booked, so you never risk your money or your place.
